# Importing Woven Bags from China: A Buyer's Checklist from Inquiry to Delivery

> A practical checklist for importing PP woven bags, FIBCs and valve bags from China: writing the spec, samples, artwork, MOQ and pricing, inspection, Incoterms, payment and container loading.

**Key takeaways:** - A **complete written spec** (size, GSM, coating, print, packing) is what makes quotes comparable. ;; Always **test samples** with your own product and filling line. ;; Agree **Incoterm, payment terms and tolerances** in writing before deposit. ;; Inspect before shipment: dimensions, GSM, print, seam strength and counts.

Woven polypropylene packaging is one of China's most mature export industries, and buying it is straightforward when the specification is clear. This checklist follows an order from first inquiry to delivered container — the same steps our export team works through with new customers.

## 1. Write a complete specification

Vague requests ("price for 50 kg bags") produce quotes that cannot be compared. Include:

- **Product to be packed** and fill weight;
- **Dimensions** — width × length (× gusset or bottom width);
- **Fabric** — GSM (g/m²), mesh, colour, UV stabilisation;
- **Finish** — uncoated, PE-coated, BOPP-laminated, paper-laminated; liner type and thickness;
- **Construction** — open-mouth, valve, block bottom, gusset; top hem, drawstring; for FIBCs, SWL, safety factor, top, bottom and loops;
- **Printing** — number of colours, one or two sides, artwork file;
- **Packing** — bales or pallets, quantity per bale.

If you don't know some values, give us the product and filling method and we will propose them.

## 2. Request and test samples

Ask for stock samples first to check fabric and workmanship, then a **custom sample** to your size and print. Test with your own product and filling line: filling speed, dust, closure, drop tests and stacking. Stock samples are usually available within 1–7 days.

## 3. Approve artwork and print proofs

For printed bags, approve a digital proof showing colours (Pantone references), positions and dimensions. Gravure-printed BOPP bags need engraved cylinders — a one-off cost per colour that is reused for repeat orders.

## 4. Agree price, MOQ, Incoterm and payment

- **Price basis.** Per piece, per kg of fabric or per tonne. Compare like with like, including GSM.
- **MOQ.** Plain bags can start low; printed and custom bags usually need more per design.
- **Incoterm.** FOB (you arrange ocean freight) or CIF/CFR (we arrange to your port). Our nearest ports are Yantai and Qingdao.
- **Payment.** Commonly T/T with 30% deposit and 70% before shipment; L/C and Alibaba.com Trade Assurance are available for qualifying orders.
- **Tolerances.** Agree acceptable tolerances for size, GSM and quantity (for example ±3% on count).

## 5. Inspect before shipment

Whether you use your own QC, a third-party inspector or our QA/QC team's report, check:

- dimensions and fabric GSM against spec;
- print colour, position and legibility;
- seam strength and stitching density;
- for FIBCs, loop attachment, labelling and top-lift test records;
- bale counts and packing marks.

## 6. Plan container loading and documents

Bags are compressed into bales or palletised. Loading quantity depends heavily on bag size and fabric weight, so ask for a loading plan with your quote. Typical export documents are commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading, plus a certificate of origin if your country requires one.

## Red flags when comparing suppliers

- Quotes without GSM or fabric details — prices are not comparable.
- Unwillingness to provide samples or a written specification.
- FIBCs offered at a safety factor with no test records.
- No verifiable company information. Third-party verified profiles help — ours is published on [Alibaba.com](https://cq-evergreen.en.alibaba.com).

## Frequently asked questions
